In addition to teaching harmony and counterpoint at the Brooklyn Conservatory in the 60's, Joe has taught at the New England Conservatory for over 30 years. Many of his students have gone on to succesful careers as performers, composers, and educators. Indeed, it was his fame as a teacher which helped bring him to the attention of ECM's Steve Lake, who said he kept seeing Joe's name in Joe's students' press kits.
